Former British nuclear commander rejects nuclear deterrence theory

Here’s a human story that strips away the jargon and twisted logic of nuclear weapons and deterrence: Commander Robert Green, Royal Navy (Ret’d) went from navigating nuclear strike aircraft to campaigning against nuclear deterrence dogma and its potentially catastrophic humanitarian consequences. Today, he’s helping ban nuclear weapons at the UN #nuclearban negotiations in New York.

In the pictures below, Commander Green is speaking at a side event on nuclear deterrence at the United Nations, 22 June 2017. The session was well attended and many in the audience requested that the story be shared widely, so here it is. Please share this with your networks!
